How to Choose the Right Wheelie Bins no comments
If you’ve decide that a wheelie bin will be better than a traditional steel or plastic bin, then you’ll want to make sure that you get the right one.
Here’s what you need to consider.
1. You’ll need to know what you’ll use your wheelie bins for. Household waste, commercial waste, recycling, and old products or components might require different sorts of wheeled bins.
2. The capacity of your bin is important. You won’t want a bin that’s too small as it will constantly need emptying, but a bin that’s too large can be hard to fill and empty.
3. It’s important that the bin is easy to fill. Having a huge heavy lid won’t make it easy to get rubbish and waste products in to the bins. You might want to be able to put a lock on the bin too, especially if you’re disposing of food, valuable, or dangerous products.
4. You’ll need to be able to empty your bin easily. Perhaps is will collected by your council waste collection service, or many you’ll need to be able to dispose of it yourself.
5. Remember that you bin needs to be left outside in all weathers, and so size is important. You’ll need to find some where somewhere sheltered so that it won’t blow over in the wind, and yet easy to reach as you won’t want to have tor walk far to put your rubbish in the bin.
6. It’s essential that your wheelie bin is durable, and looks like it will last a long time. These bins will have a hard life, and so you’ll want a bin that’s up to the job.
7. You might want to have different coloured wheelie bins instead of the traditional black ones. Why not brighten up your day with coloured some coloured bins?
8. Perhaps you’ll be using different bins for different sorts of waste, or for different sorts recycling. You could use coloured bins so that it’s easy to see what waste goes where.
9. You could also have your company logo printed on your wheelie bins for additional advertising, and so that your bins don’t go missing.
10. It’s important that you get the right bins, and that you don’t buy on cost alone. You’ll need to make sure you get value for money. The cheapest wheelie bins might not really be big enough, or durable, and hard to empty.
Now you know what to look for, you’ll be able to choose the right wheelie bins.

Advantages of Steam Cleaners no comments
Steam Cleaners offer much more than just steam. Yes, they use the power of vapor to clean, but do they actually clean? You’d be surprised to know that steam cleaning can benefit you, your family, or business.
Water vapor, surprising, can clean your house quite effectively. The hot 240 degree temperature of hand held devices can allow users to easily eliminate grim, dirt, and residues from hard surfaces such as counter tops, bathroom walls, sinks, hard wood floors, and vinyl floors. In fact, they can eliminate the dirt with the glide of a hand held steamer handle.
Steam machines also have another valuable benefit: They can kill harmful germs. Worried about salmonella, e-coli, and other bacteria? Steam cleaners have the unique ability to use safe and economic ways of destroying bacteria. Since dirt and bacteria have adhesive characteristics, hot steam can eliminate the clinging nature of the harmful elements. You can remove the germs simply by wiping the surface with a towel.
More importantly, these machines don’t use chemical ingredients that may cause side effects. For individuals sensitive to allergens in chemicals, steam cleaners offer a allergen-free alternative to cleaning. For those who are concerned about toxins associated with chemical cleaning, steam cleaners offer a greener edge. With chemicals, the acidic nature of the cleaning solutions may get into the skin and pores of individuals, in some cases, children. There’s no substitute to nature’s answer to cleaning.
There’s another advantage that could be readily dismissed. Consider the cost of detergent, cleaning liquids, and other chemical agents. One can pay literally hundreds or even thousands of dollars in a year. With water being a ubiquitous element, a user can tap into this free element from anywhere.
Ever had a hard time cleaning in remote locations such as corners? Hand held cleaners or portable steam cleaners allow users to access tough spots that other devices have a hard time reaching. The ease of flexibility and control gives these machines another edge in the cleaning machine industry.
Clearly, steam cleaners have a lot of advantages. They have been in existence for a long time, but it wasn’t until recently they became a more common household item.

This is another one of those “make at home” type things that I found somewhere on the internet and actually tried out. I can give you some actual, real feedback on its effectiveness and savings.
Just last week, I tried out some homemade toilet bowl cleaner. And believe it or not, it worked out quite well. I found the benefits to be many, the user-friendliness of it to be wonderful, and the savings seem to be there as well also.
This is what I found. The list of ingredients for my homemade toilet bowl cleaner call for:
1 ½ cups of white vinegar
1 cup of baking soda
¼ cup of salt
5-10 drops of essential oil
Basically, you pour everything in, mix it up a little with your toilet bowl brush, and then let it sit for 20 minutes. Then, go back, scrub down the bowl and flush. It’s that simple.
Before I get into the cost breakdown of this, let me tell you something. The “amounts” on this recipe simply seemed to be way too much to for one cleaning of your toilet bowl (unless of course, you have an extremely large or extremely dirty toilet bowl). Therefore, I eyeballed it pretty much, but I basically cut the amounts on this recipe in half.
Oh, and the essential oil thing really only seems to be for fragrance purposes. It says it serves an antibacterial purpose, but I would imagine that you could eliminate this as well and still have the same effect.
So, according to my calculations, using the homemade recipe would cost you about 24 cents per use. Using a store bought brand of toilet bowl cleaner would cost about 63 cents. This works out to approximately a 62% savings on your toilet bowl cleaning.
Now, in terms of dollars saved, is this going to make you a million dollars over the course of a year? Absolutely not. However, below, I listed out all of the benefits that I came across during the use of this homemade stuff.
–Ease of use. As opposed to other homemade recipes that you actually have to mix up, with this one, you’re just pouring the ingredients into your bowl, so there is really no preparation time to make it or storage of it. This was a big plus to me.
–Also, now, rather than polluting the environment with an empty toilet bowl cleaner container every month or so, you will now only be throwing away the big gallon jug of white vinegar about once every three months. A benefit for the environment.
–Third, a lot of the commercial toilet bowl cleaners (especially the blue ones) can do harm to your toilet plumbing and pipes. Obviously, these ingredients are all natural, so you can eliminate that issue as well.
–And finally, the savings involved. Again, I won’t break the bank with this savings idea, but every penny helps.
Overall, I’d give this recipe an A+. I think the savings are minimal, but when you add everything up, it has many other benefits to be reaped.

Emergency Water Damage – What to Do and What Not to Do no comments
Water damage inside a home tends to come from only two sources, Mother Nature and mechanical malfunctions. Whether it is from storms, rising rivers and lakes or plumbing leaks and sewer back-ups one fact will remain the same, time is of the essence. The sooner the water is removed and the area dried the better the chances are of getting out of the situation with the least amount of damage. The loss your property can be devastating but a health issue arising from improper cleanup procedures, in my opinion, is much more critical.
Depending on the amount of water that you are dealing with, clean up can range from a simple shop vac and a few fans to pumping machines, industrial grade dehumidification units, sanitizing and disinfecting. When massive flooding of the home has occurred it is always best to call on the professionals for an accurate evaluation. In the mean time, there a few things that can be done (and not done) to assure safety and the least amount of damage.
We will cover a few of the basics here.
The first and most obvious is to eliminate the source of water if possible such as turning off the main water line. If you are dealing with clean water it is typically safe to enter the home and initiate clean-up but only after the circuit breakers that supply power to the wet room or rooms have been turned off.
Unplug and remove any electrical devices that are in or near the affected area.
Remove as much water as possible with a wet/dry shop vac, mops and rags. Lift drapes off the floor, remove area rugs, and basically anything lying around that can be subject to water, especially newspapers, magazines and books since they can bleed ink and stain. Wipe down solid furniture, remove and air dry wet or damp couch cushions. Aluminum foil can be placed under furniture legs to prevent carpet stains.
If temperatures are over 60 degrees use a dehumidifier, fans and air conditioning to circulate air. Turn on the heat if the weather is cold to aid in the drying process.
Do not attempt cleanup yourself if you are dealing with any kind of sewerage water unless it is absolutely necessary. In this case be sure to wear rubber gloves and protective clothing, a respirator and goggles. When finished handling sewerage-contaminated items immediately remove your outerwear and either dispose of it or wash. Thoroughly scrub with a disinfectant soap. If you develop any adverse heath issues be sure to contact your doctor and make him aware of the situation. In the event that the HVAC system is readily accessible turn it off to prevent the spread of air-born contaminants.
Here are a few addition things to be aware of: Never use a household vacuum to remove water since electrical shock may occur along with damage to the unit. Stay out of rooms that have standing water and the electricity is still on. Do not use ceiling fans when the ceiling is wet. Stay off of wet surfaces as much as possible to avoid accidents and the possible spread of bacteria.

Need to Know Which Brand of Paper Towel is the Most Absorbent? no comments
Which brand of paper towel is the most absorbent? Determining this can be very frustrating. You will also find that by determining the most absorbent paper towel affects that consumer, because they will use a certain amount of sheets to wipe up a spill. The other thing is that you will not be able to quickly tick off the best absorbent paper by finding the sheets that carries the highest price tag. Although this will be the proper way of doing things, this is not always the case. Don’t grab something because of the high price tag and think it is better than the cheaper one next to it. The other thing that you have to consider is the strength of the towel, because with a strong towel you will be able to use it a couple of times. These are the main factors to consider when it comes to efficient paper towels. Maybe the following test with be able to help you determine which brand of paper towel is the most absorbent.
The first thing you have to do is collect different brands of paper towels. There are many brands and some are more expensive than others. Some of the brands you could purchase for your test are: Kleenex Viva, Scott and Bounty. You can go out and purchase this yourself or you could try the cheaper approach: go around to friends, relatives and neighbors and borrow a couple of sheets. People prefer buying different brands and will be curious participants by helping you determine which is the most absorbent. When you are trying to determine which brand of paper towel is the most absorbent, it will definitely help the people you borrowed the sheets from. Make sure you share the results with all of them!
Next, you want to draw up a chart so that you can record your information. Jot down the name of the brand and your results. You will then need to cut equal pieces out of each towel. You should not just use odd pieces. Bigger pieces will absorb more, so make sure that each piece is the same when doing this experiment. You will then need to fill a cup with a 1/4 measurement of water. It is important that you use the same amount of water for each piece or paper. Insert your paper and allow it to set for 10 to 15 seconds. Now remove the soaked paper from the cup and hold it there so that dripping subsides.
Now squeeze as much water from the paper over a measuring jug as you can. Make sure that you measure the results correctly. You will then need to repeat the above steps with each piece of towel that must still be tested. Follow the same manner as before, because this guarantees accuracy.
Now that you have your results, determine which towel absorbs the most water. Make sure that you inform the people that contributed to your experiment once you have determined which brand of paper towel is the most absorbent.
