Interior Decoration: Tips On How To Design A Luxurious Rest Room   no comments

Posted at 10:18 am in Interior Decorating

More and more folks want to decorate their bathroom is a way that makes it a luxurious retreat. The majority of people retreat to their bathroom when they'd like to unwind after a busy day. Therefore if you would like to decorate your bathroom this way, these are some handy ideas for you from interior designers in Melbourne.

Lighting
If you want to make a romantic feel in your bathroom, you need to go for ambient lighting. It also creates a rich look. You can opt for a candelabrum and sconces. Additionally , to magnify this look, you have got to use those with gilt or crystals. And finally, dimmer switches must also be installed.

Vanity
If you truly want to change everything in your toilet, consider using an old marble-top chest of drawers. Then, you can put a sink on top of it. You'll be unable to use to storage due to the plumbing that'll be placed inside it. But again, this depends on the chest; you can still add 1 drawer or 2. Just be absolutely certain you are certain that this is what you need because once you have modified the drawer, you can't alter it anymore.

Floors
An under-floor heating would be a great investment. But you have got to consider your budget because this is often a bit expensive. It always feels good to step on a warm floor everytime you go out of and into your rest room.

Mirror
Invest in a mirror with lovely frames. They are not only straightforward to install, they are also extraordinarily interesting. If you're going for a luxurious look, this sorts of mirrors will assist you in achieving that look.
Window Treatments

Luxury toilets don’t truly use simple roller blinds or shutters. As an alternative you can go for flowing drapes and curtains. Select the ones that are made from silks and velvets. Also , remember the dimensions of your rest room. Choose drapes and curtains that won't overwhelm your space.

Ensure you prepare yourself, financially, if you would like to have a luxurious bathroom. Do more research if you need so you can nail this project. If you need help, you can check interior decorators Melbourne.

Tips For Choosing The Perfect Furniture For Your Living Room   no comments

Posted at 4:48 pm in Interior Decorating

When decorating your family or living room, the furniture you choose becomes the base for the rest of the décor. When you shop for furniture you should think about a few things. Is your room on the spacious or smaller side? Is the room for show, or will it actually get lots of traffic? You need to ask many question, from how do you want the furnishings to be used to what style you prefer.

The tips and ideas provided in this article will help you choose furniture that you will still love in the coming years.

Is your family or living room tiny or spacious?

This plays a large role in determining the type of furniture you will choose. You need a love seat, sofa or recliner that is built on a smaller scale for a small room, as furniture that is appears larger and heavier will make the room look smaller. However, when it comes to larger living rooms or family rooms, you need to choose something bulky and heavy so that the room appears balanced.

How will the room be used?

If the room that you are going to decorate is going to be used on a daily basis you need to make sure that the furniture you decide on is well-built and durable. Carefully pay attention to the construction, check seams and make sure to sit on it. Also, you need to choose a style that you will still love in the next 5 or 10 years.

As long as the look and style is something you love, furniture for a living room that won’t be used so much, like a formal living room, can be of lesser quality. Though you want to make sure that you don’t go too cheap; you need to buy moderately priced furniture that will let you furnish the room in a way that is beautiful and has that show place look for when it does see use.

Modern, country, western or contemporary?

Before you purchase any furniture you need to make sure you know what style of decorating you desire. If you love a western theme go with leather or natural wood finishes. Country decorating and a bulky floral pattern work hand in hand. You should have sleek and streamlined furnishings if you want a more modern or contemporary style. A sofa with clean lines and metal accents is perfect for the contemporary look.

The colors that are going to be used to decorate your family or living room need to be considered as well. Rustic colors like the ones found in nature are included in country and western themes. Consider the fabric of the furniture you want because these styles usually see colors like rust, gold, pumpkin, dark green and navy blue. The colors that are mainly used in contemporary and modern decorating are black, white, sand and beige, while at times using a little red for added interest.

Make sure to do research on the style of decorating you’re going to use before you go shopping. You can find lots of examples for every type of décor that can give you ideas, so you’ll be able to create rooms that exude your personal style and are beautiful.

Simple Ways To Enlarge Your Space   no comments

Posted at 7:08 pm in Interior Decorating

For many, a small home, apartment, mobile home, or condo is home. While an intimate feeling is nice, there is such a thing as “too intimate.” A room with too many things in it can start to close in on you so that you feel you’re always climbing over things to get where you are going.

Luckily, there are tons of solutions for opening up smaller spaces. You can make your tiny room appear twice as big by simply following the tips below.

Create a Balance of Large and Small
A common misperception many have is that small accents and accessories should be used in small rooms. Although some tiny decorating pieces aren’t a problem, if you use too many, it will just add to the small, cluttered look. The best approach to use here is to create a balance of large and small. This will eliminate that messy, cluttered look, all while helping to create interest in the décor.

Light Up the Room!
Does your small room look dark and dreary? Light it up! Any heavy curtains or other window coverings that block the light should be removed. Venetian blinds or another style of window covering allow you to open up the window completely, so you always have the option of letting sunshine spill in and brightening the mood. Place lamps strategically around the room. Also, you’ll want the maximum amount of light in the evenings, so use lamp shades that are light in color. If you like the look of curtains, choose something sheer.

Remember—Less Is More
Large, oversized furniture and large paintings are perfect for smaller rooms. Although you want large pieces like a tv stand or entertainment center, you do want less of them. For instance, a large sofa and recliner will give you seating space, while not overcrowding the room. For the walls, choose a single large portrait or painting, rather than groups of smaller pictures. Then you’ll end up with a room that, although small, feels airy and spacious.

Make Good Use of What Space You Have to Work With
You’ll often see mission bookshelves, lamps, and other items placed in the middle of the wall. Try using your corner space instead. By freeing up more area in the middle of the room, you’ll make it appear larger. Unless the layout just doesn’t work, use the corners. Plants will work great in a corner as well.

Mirrors Double the Size of a Room
This is a trade secret that’s been known for decades: mirrors can visually help create a larger looking space. You might place mirrored tiles across an entire wall or use one large mirror on a wall instead to create a focal point. The reflection of your small room in that mirror will make the space look double the size!

Don’t Forget Color
If you’re looking to make your tiny space look bigger, don’t forget color. While white is great, you might also consider using bright greens, blues, and peaches. When you keep the shades light, color will work to add interest and depth to the space. Of course, you can always create an accent wall, painting a single wall a bright vibrant shade to either blend or contrast with the colors in your furnishings and accents.

When it comes to a small space, it’s always important to remember that less is always more. So do away with those collections of small knick-knacks and use singe items instead in your décor. It’s amazing how a room can open up right before your eyes when you mix and match a few small pieces with several large ones.

Simple Tips for Choosing the Best Decorating Style   no comments

Posted at 4:40 pm in Interior Decorating

One of the most difficult aspects of decorating a home is deciding on a style you like that fits your home. It often takes people longer to come up with a theme or style for a room than the actual shopping and decorating. If you’re having some difficulty coming up with a great style for you and your home, then here are some great suggestions that can help get you started.

Consider the Natural Style of Your Home
If your home reflects a particular feel, that can be the easiest way to find a style for your entire decor. For example, a country or traditional decor would be a natural fit for an old country home. On the other hand, a Southwestern theme would fit better with a home that’s built using Spanish-style architecture. These suggestions, of course, aren’t set in stone, but they are a great way to go if you’re unsure about which decorating style to pick.

Look Through Home Decorating Magazines and Books
Another way to get plenty of great ideas for your home is to go through some of the home decorating magazines and books at your local library. The style should be something that fits the architecture of your home and also something you’re in love with. Remember, you don’t have to have only one theme in your home but instead can have a different style in every room if that’s what you want. If you come across styles you like, jot down some notes. You might also make some photocopies for future reference.

Do Research on the Internet on Different Decorating Styles
A great way to research the different decorating styles you’re contemplating is to use the Internet. You can check out pictures of all the different styles. You may be able to find articles and tips on decorating as well. You may end up finding that you fall in love with one or two of the styles and can thus drop the rest of them.

Determine the Function of a Room Before Choosing a Decorating Style
Keep in mind that the purpose of a room isn’t always going to fit with every decorating style. Modern decor, for instance, may not be appropriate for a family room where you’re looking for a comfortable space to relax, watch television, and play games. You should have an idea of what you want in each room in the house before you start planning any decorating projects or spending any money. After all, you don’t want to go through all the work of decorating only to realize that what you’ve done doesn’t fit the function of the room and you have to start over.

Consider Who Is Living in the House
If you are living with small children or pets, then this may limit your options. It’s important to consider who’s living in the home and who will be using the room before you decorate. Of course, the sky’s the limit if all you need to please is your spouse and yourself.

In order to find a decorating style you love that fits your home and needs, you may have to spend some time planning, but it shouldn’t be stressful. Use these guidelines to determine the best style and you will enjoy spending time in your home day after day.
