Simple Kitchen Flooring Ideas   no comments

When you choose flooring for your kitchen, it will depend on the style and look you wish to achieve in the room. Although people tend to go for certain flooring options more than others, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to fall in line. If you’re looking to put flooring in your kitchen, here are a few different options to consider.

Wood Flooring for the Kitchen
A common flooring choice in kitchens is wood floors. As a matter of fact, one of the most popular types of flooring options available is wood flooring. You can choose among several different types of wood for your floor. Whichever type of wood you choose—whether you stick with a basic pine slat or get a little trendier and environmentally conscience with a bamboo wood floor—the warmth of the wood will add character to the space. Consider your kitchen’s style and theme, and choose a color and type of wood to fit that.

Tile Flooring: Timeless and Tasteful
A very popular type of kitchen flooring is tile. Tile flooring offers a variety of options, from different colors and designs to a variety of materials. You can pick from plain tiles floors, ones that resemble stone or are decorative, or others that are laid out in a design. Not only do ceramic and porcelain tile require little maintenance, but they are also resistant to stains and scratches. However, do be careful not to drop anything upon the tiles, as they can crack.

Laminate Flooring in the Kitchen
A less expensive choice in terms of kitchen flooring is laminate. When it comes to the new laminate flooring, you may be surprised at just how many options you have to choose from. One popular option is a laminate floor that looks like a wood floor and can easily pass for real genuine wood. Other options include laminate floors that look like tile. You can also go with a plain laminate floor. These floors are very simple but can fit in perfectly to play down a visually striking kitchen. Laminate flooring is a popular choice because the installation is easier and they cost much less than a tile or real wood floor.

Concrete Flooring in the Kitchen
People don’t always associate concrete flooring with a kitchen, but in recent years they have become increasingly popular. Many people don’t realize that a concrete floor designed for the kitchen is different than a regular concrete floor. These decorative and stained concrete floors can have patterns and color incorporated into their matrix. Not only are concrete floors extremely durable, but they’re also very reasonable when compared to real wood floors.

Vinyl for a Kitchen Floor
If you’re looking for another inexpensive flooring option, consider vinyl tile or sheet. When people think of vinyl, they often think of the old linoleum floors of the past, but vinyl has actually come a long way. Now vinyl comes in all kinds of patterns, colors, and designs, and can add much style and beauty to any kitchen. One of the best advantages to vinyl is that you can really save money by installing the floor yourself. With a vinyl tile floor, you can either make a clear statement or add a quiet, calming element to your kitchen décor. There are thousands of options, so it’s up to you what type of vinyl tile you choose.

These are just a few of the many flooring options you have to ch oose from for your kitchen. If you’ve narrowed down your selection to a couple of options, then you need to go and find out what’s locally available to you. You may be surprised to find out just how many options you really have.

Get a New Kitchen Look on a Budget   no comments

With the recent economic downturn, most families have little, if any, extra money. The kitchen is often the most expensive room in the house to remodel, so what do you do if it’s in desperate need of a facelift? But there are so many things that are affordable that you can either do yourself or have done at a reasonable price. If you want to transform the look of your kitchen without spending a fortune, here are a few easy steps you can take.

The obvious place to start is to paint your walls and ceiling. You can really make a difference in the room by changing the colors around. A soft yellow or pastel peach, for instance, won’t be overbearing but will still add color and vibrancy to the décor. Or to really make the look pop, paint the baseboards a contrasting color.

  • If your cabinets are showing their age, it’s time to fix them up. This type of small touch in a décor can really make a large impact. Your local home supply store should offer all sorts of new pulls to choose from. Look for pulls with pretty patterns on them to add a touch of color to your décor.
  • With lighting fixtures, you can go for a whole new look. Have the fixtures you have now been there for years? Chances are, they are probably outdated. Compared to having to move the electrical box, lighting fixtures will save you a bundle. Choose fixtures that fit in the same place as your current light does.
  • It may be time to update your window decors. Are all of your kitchen and dining room windows hung with mini blinds? Consider getting rid of them altogether and hanging some delicate sheers in their place. If you just happen to prefer blinds, then consider the vertical variety. For a more elegant look, you might use satin sheets to create your own swags. You have endless options for your window decorations, so don’t be afraid to get a little creative.

If you don’t mind painting, with a little imagination you can create a unique look that will others will envy. You want your home to be your own special place, reflecting your tastes and personality. Originality is the name of the game if you’re looking to create a décor that’s uniquely yours.

It’s not difficult to transform the look and feel of your kitchen without breaking your budget. You want a look that family and friends can enjoy in comfort, since the kitchen is often the most used room in the home. You’ll be amazed at what a difference a few of these simple tricks can make! You can make your kitchen look as though it cost thousands for only a few hundred dollars, and no one will know any better.
