Simple Ways to Add Color to a Kitchen   no comments

Most families seem to end up spending a great deal of their time in the kitchen, so you might want to make it more interesting and add some color. Maybe you dont want a drab and dreary kitchen, but you dont know quite how to add the right touch. Here are some easy ways to add color to your kitchen so you can change your dcor from boring to fabulous.

Add Color by Dressing Up Your Table
If youre looking for an easy way to add color to your kitchen, try dressing up your kitchen table. Some colorful dishware can really spruce things up, as well as a colorful tablecloth or placemat set. Another way to achieve instantaneous color is by adding a centerpiece, such as flowers in a vase or basket on your hickory dining tables. You want to try to find colors that complement your kitchen dcor but add interest at the same time.

Add Color with a Backsplash
Your kitchen backsplash doesnt have to be boring. Although you can always keep it simple with a neutral-colored tile or laminate, why not choose a colorful backsplash instead? Tiles and laminates come in all different colors. If you want a totally unique look, try arranging colored glass thats been broken up in a random pattern on the wall. Whichever way you decide to go, not only will you add some color to the dcor, but youll end up with a personalized, one-of-a-kind backsplash.

Paint an Accent Wall a Different Color
If your kitchen is painted a neutral color, then paint an accent wall to incorporate some color into the dcor. Choose the wall thats the least covered with cabinets or appliances. Be sure to pick an accent color that will work well with the rest of your kitchens dcor. For a more subtle look, go with a matching color. But if you want the wall to really stand out, pick a color thats complementary.

Take the Doors Off the Cabinets
Showcase your colorful dishes and other tableware by taking the doors off your kitchen cabinets. Or if your dishes are more neutral, then you can also paint the inside of the cabinets a contrasting color. This doesnt mean you need to take every cabinet door off. But choose a couple of prominent cabinets about the countertops to be your color cabinets.

Use Window Treatments to Add Interest
Chances are, your kitchen has at least one window. Why not utilize that window area to add color? Put up a valance or drapes in a color that will really stand out in the room. For instance, red or purple window treatments would be a great way to add color to a black-and-white kitchen.

You dont need to redecorate the entire room in order to add color to your kitchen. All you need to do is build on what you already have, adding your own colorful touches here and there around the room.

How To Get An Spacious And Airy Kitchen   no comments

If you have a small kitchen, it can be a worry and you know it. Lots of families spend a good amount of time in the kitchen enjoying meals, and company usually sits at the kitchen table during a visit. There are some easy ways to make your kitchen appear larger, especially if it feels so tine that you can barely move around. The ideas and tips in this article will help you turn your constricting kitchen into one that is enjoyable.

Before starting up, clear out anything that isn’t a complete necessity from your cabinets and cupboards. No, this doesn’t make the kitchen appear any larger, but it does offer a sense of organization when you open up your cupboard and you no longer have any clutter and mess in it.

First of All, Organize

A kitchen’s space can be decreased is the counter top is cluttered and messy. Though small accessories like plants, canisters and other knick-knacks don’t take up floor space, they do clutter the room, making it look smaller. You will be on your way to creating an airy and open look in your kitchen if you clear your cluttered counter tops.

Walls and Floors

Though you might already know this, having light colors can open up the space of a room. If you have dark or wallpaper covered walls, it’s time to update the look. Strip away your wall paper; anything that has small prints, flowers or intricate designs makes the room look smaller. When painting the room, use a coat of butter yellow or any other light paint; not only is it visually appealing, but the light color will visually open up the space as well.

Floors should also be kept light. Natural wood or pine stained in a light shade will look really nice in the room if you have wood floors. Use shades like cream or sand on linoleum or ceramic tiles to keep them light as well.

Cabinets

Most people don’t have them means for buying new cabinets. Just as your walls and floors are light in color, your cabinets should follow the same rules. If you have dark cabinets, and you want to save yourself some money, you can give them a face lift yourself. You can really transform the look and feel of your kitchen by updating your cabinets. Sand down the cabinet’s finish, apply a couple of coats of a light shade, and some decorative hardware should be added. Think about protecting the paint and giving a nice sheen by applying a coat of polyurethane.

A good way to make the room look more spacious is by opening up your windows and letting in some natural light. If possible, the window over your sink should be kept open without any curtains or other window treatments. If you can’t leave them open, a sheer, light colored material will work best to keep the airy appeal.

The floors should be kept clear of any furniture or unnecessary accessories. If you have lots of things taking up space on the floor, move them out. By keeping your floors, counter tops and kitchen table clean you will make your kitchen appear much more spacious. Soon you will have a kitchen that looks as if it has doubled in size as long as you put a few of these tips and ideas to use in your room.
